FILM A SITCOM WITH A LIVE STUDIO AUDIENCE!
*Our Sitcom
This week will add strong credits to the actor’s resumé. Friends and family are invited to be apart of the fun as we shoot a sitcom in front of a live studio audience. As the actors listen and wait for laughs from their studio audience, they will also learn to deliver a performance blocked for multiple cameras. The actor will balance the internal comedy with the external technicalities of the medium for an effective filmed comedy performance. Professional production companies will replicate television sets on location and in-house, giving the actor an authentic filming experience. All campers will be sent a DVD of their sitcom work.
*Television Work
We adjust acting styles to fit various types of television shows. Train with scripts and in atmospheres specific to the most common television settings; sitcom, soap opera, episodic and commercials.
*Film a Commercial for a Charity or Community Service Organization
Together we will clearly define who the actor is as a commercial product. Experience a "real commercial audition" environment, learn product handling, and make strong connections with the camera. Actors tackle intense commercial script work on their own and with scene partners. We cover everything there is to know about working in the world of commercial acting. Three production companies will work with campers to produce real commercials that will take the actor through the process of an audition with a Casting Director to shooting on a real commercial.

Learn The Business of Hollywood
*The Film & Television Industry: Who's Who in the Business
Casting director, manager, agent, director, producer...This class will help the actor understand the roles of these important players and how they relate to the working actor. This is also apart of our career assessment series where we discover other possible career paths and what it takes to attain these jobs.
*The Film Actor and Today's Technology
Learn about the successful tools of the trade... headshots, resumés, cover letters, demo reels, video auditions and more. We'll cover how making use of today's technology and internet resources allow our actors to pursue opportunities and be proactive in the Los Angeles market from afar as well as in their own communities. In short, our actors learn how to be their own agent until they get one (EVEN IF THEY ALREADY HAVE ONE). Internet safety and parent permissions are the lead topics of this course.
*Making the Most of the YAC Experience
Some young actors (and parents) are counting on this experience to be a launch pad towards the professional world of acting. No program can promise representation or work. However, we are prepared and equipped to help. Assigned evaluators will note the following: 1. Appropriate referrals for agents and further acting classes. 2. Noting benefits and disadvantages of a particular venue for the child's talents. 3. How the 'fit' of child and acting in this industry coincide.
*Parent Education
As a residential acting program, MOST parents are not in attendance but we highly suggest that parents accompany their child to camp so that they may attend the Parent Support Conference. It is the perfect opportunity to for parents to understand what is required of a family to fully pursue the film industry on behalf of a child actor. It is not required but it is highly suggested! Read more about the Parent Support Conference here
*Career and College Investigations
Career investigations and overview of California colleges/training centers popular for their Acting for Film/Theater programs (college registrants are first enrolled. Limited space)
